Helping immigrant & visible minority women become self-aware and to discover their potential
Immigrant Women and Voice (IWV), a 3-year pilot project funded by Status of Women Canada, is a leadership program for visible minority and immigrant women who wish to become more confident and self-aware, and who would like to become involved in their community. The program is run in 8 week sessions, where the women will attend workshops for 3 half-days per week
The workshops relate to the theme of the program, which focuses on women’s potential for being community leaders and creating change. Women who participate in the workshops will discover what they are passionate about, and how they can follow-through on becoming involved in the community. This community involvement is supported by the program through a volunteer placement where the women will be able to gain experience and network within the community.
Topics will include:
• Find Your Passion & Goal-Setting
• Communication & Public Speaking
• Teamwork & Problem Solving
• Skills Assessment
• Leadership & Confidence
• Canadian Workplace Culture
Complete a Volunteer Placement to:
• Gain employment experience
• Connect with an organization that matches your passion
• Network in the Kitchener-Waterloo Community
