Meet Our Directors

President

Katherine is the Director of Strategic Opportunities and Research at Innovation Guelph. Katherine currently serves as an emergency responder and dispatcher for Red Cross Disaster Management and sits on the Wilfrid Laurier University Global Studies Alumni Board.

Vice President

Alka was born and raised in India. She holds master’s degrees in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology & Genetics and is extremely community focused.

Secretary

Dr. Pamela J. Bryden is a Professor in the Department of Kinesiology and Physical Education at Laurier. Her background includes a joint PhD in the Departments of Psychology and Kinesiology at the University of Waterloo, where she developed skills in neuropsychological, cognitive, and motor assessment of both children and the older adults. Her research has focused on the cognitive, perceptual, and motor determinants of behaviour in normal and clinical populations across the lifespan, and in particular on the mechanisms underlying lateral dominance. Pam is also currently the Director of the Sun Life Centre for Physically Active Communities. The Centre aims to build a healthy community through physical activity and healthy living knowledge by connecting research with practice. Pam is also currently on the Board of Governors of Wilfrid Laurier University and St. John’s Kilmarnock School.

Yvette was born and raised in Nigeria. She holds a master’s degrees in Human Resource Management and Development from the U.K. She recently Immigrated to Canada in 2018. She is the HR Lead at CBOQ (NPO) before then She worked at Dixie Bloor Neighbourhood Centre and she is always looking for ways to assist migrant women settle better and faster into the community.

Tsitsi holds a CPA-CMA designation and a Masters in Accounting from Brock University; currently she works in corporate services for community mental health and addictions serving Perth County. Prior to her work with non-profits in Canada, she worked in internal Audit at the Agricultural and Rural Development Authority in Zimbabwe where she helped in training local bookkeepers and field managers as well as appraising community development initiatives. Tsitsi is thrilled to be able to contribute to FEW and put her knowledge to use as well as give back to such a great initiative.

Nabila is a PhD Candidate in Urban Planning at the University of Waterloo. She is currently researching the role and experiences of public transit among newcomer immigrant women in the region. Through her work, she hopes to identify ways of incorporating justice within public transit policies.
